Michael has been involved with photography since 1984, when he was hired to operate an in-house photo lab for Byrd-Watson Drug Store in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. From there, he attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and received an Associate in Applied Science degree from the Photo Production Technology program.
Upon graduation, Michael worked for several photographers and photo labs in Peoria, Illinois before being hired by Peoria Camera Shop as the evening shop manager for the Metro Centre location. He also moonlighted at Tallyn's Pro Photography in Peoria, learning more about equipment, techniques, and studio lighting.
In 1994, Michael moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to jump-start the Studio Lighting Department at Roberts Distributors. During his time there, he has continued his quest to find the best equipment for his customers by evaluation and testing. He has earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Concordia University-Wisconsin (Indianapolis Branch Campus)--graduating Magna Cum Laude. Michael teaches classes in studio lighting on the side, consults on studio design, and is available for personal tutoring and consultation.
Barb's interest in photography stems from a class she took in junior high school in Morton, IL. After receiving her Associate Degree in Business from Illinois Central College in Peoria, IL, she joined the staff of Peoria Camera Shop in 1985. At the shop. she did Accounts Payable, Sales, and even represented the store at several photo trade shows across the Midwest.
Barb attended a photographic workshop through Exeter College in Great Britain in 1987, where she learned the concepts of photographic artistry and leading lines. This training has served her well, as her photos were chosen as the cover shot for the cover of the Bethel Lutheran Church directory not once, but twice. She is currently the head wedding coordinator at Advent Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zionsville, IN. In this capacity, she sees wedding photography from the church's point of view, and brings that knowledge with her as she assists her husband when they photograph weddings.
The Team
Michael and Barb were married in September, 1994, and while they have no children, they do have one cuddly but temperamental cat at home named Bogen (yes, after the tripod company!).
Michael's role is technical, making sure the equipment is operating correctly and he also handles booking of events to be photographed. Barb handles the ordering of photos from the photo lab, ordering supplies, accounting, and is the more artistic eye when Michael gets bogged down on a project. © 2006 - 2008 - Michael A.
